NOTE:
Support for the CMS (Content Management System) which has been used to create these web pages for the past decade is being discontinued at the end of 2022. The pages will still be visible until the end of 2023, but it won't be possible to add any new content after December 2022.
:-(
Save the Krill (October 2021) :
This was "inspired" by a similar banner that adorns the side of a building in the Wellington (New Zealand) CBD.
From a personal perspective, it's satirical, although there IS a "Save the Krill" movement, apparently!
The Puppet-Master (October 2021) :
You'll see the original pic featuring the left and right "marionette" heads back on the January 2021 page. That render also features in a Second Life gallery. The central character is an SL avatar who/which just happened to be standing in front of the render... a couple of tweaks to the chins made the scene almost feasible!
Sunset (October 2021) :
The nylon panty-hose and the glove caused lots of problems with this render given their close proximity to the woman's skin... But it was worth the effort.
( The astute among you might notice that our model must have been moving around, given the level of champagne in the flute is on an angle!!! )
Couldn't refrain from tweaking and re-rendering!
(A 6hr render.)
Champagne Moment (October 2021) :
Melancholic Portrait (November 2021) :
This features the same female model as in the above three renders.
A Conversation (November 2021) :
" Try to see it from MY perspective. "
" How do you think I feel? "
" That's easy for YOU to say ! "
Condo Diving (November 2021) :
Looking for a Condo?
Look no further!
Condo Heaven is just a small step from the ocean!
Take the plunge today!
The Big Dig (November 2021) :
Just a draft book-cover.
Dune Buggy - HDR (November 2021) :
This HDR 3D render was still less than 80% "converged" (completed) after 25 hours, 8 minutes of CPU-time!
My Body's a Mesh! (November 2021) :
Helping Hand (November 2021) :
Quite a tricky procedure, this "meshing up":
First create a normal model, then run a script that extracts the model's original wireframe structure, then create an Uber "Geoshell" around the model and "paste" the wireframe texture onto the new outer skin. It's possible to display the wireframe over the original skin texture, or over "clay" or over a transparent model.
In short, it's FUN!
Autumnal Tree-House (November 2021) :
...
Santa's Carbon Footprint
(December 2021) :
Executive Chair 01
(December 2021) :
Executive Chair 02
(December 2021) :
Happy New Year !
(January 2022) :
We LOVE to Shop !
(January 2022) :
Might return to this render's model after taking receipt of a new graphics machine in February 2022, in order to improve upon the Depth of Field technique used for this render.
Electric Blonde ver 01
(January 2022) :
This troublesome [Iray engine] render timed-out (a user-imposed setting) after 25+hrs, still only 78.5% converged / completed.
Soon we'll be getting a new 3D Graphics-oriented machine. Hopefully the render-times will then be significantly quicker.
Blooming Blonde
(February 2022) :
Snowy (February 2022) :
A Depth-of-Field (DOF) Experiment.
Cattitude (February 2022) :
Another Depth-of-Field (DOF) Experiment.
Jupiter Or Bust (February 2022) :
This was an experiment using Volumetric 3D Objects for the Smoke/Flames. The more commonly-used technique for incorporating such (and rain, fog, snow, etc.) is to use one or more 2D planar objects, but those require repositioning each time the camera angle is changed in the 3D scene. Volumetric Objects have true 3D depth so look "proper" from every angle, including above and below. The trade-off, of course is computer "grunt".
Jupiter Capsule Interior
(February 2022) :
Blonde in Gallery
(February 2022) :
Street Life (February 2022) :
A Depth-of-Field and Lighting experiment.
Cloud One (March 2022) :
Volumetric 3D Clouds.
Fogged-In (March 2022) :
More Volumetric 3D Clouds, Depth-of-Field and Lighting experimentation. (A 30 second render!)
Fogged-In (March 2022) :
Another experiment with 3D Volumetric Clouds. (A 9 second render!)
Fogged-In (March 2022) :
Yet Another experiment with 3D Volumetric Clouds. (A 30 second render!)
It's all in the Eyes (March 2022) :
Intense Depth-of-Field, focused purely on the eyes. High geometric sub-divisions. This 3,000 x 4,500 pixel 3D render took almost 5hrs to perform 8,408 Iray iterations on a new high-end PC:
