Head in Hands! (March 2021) :
Pyro-Snake (March 2021) :
Metal-Collar Worker (March 2021) :
An 18.5hr ray-traced render!
Just a Box... or Two (March 2021) :
Marine Life (March 2021) :
Mud Larks (March 2021) :
A 12hr ray-traced 3D render.
Luck (April 2021) :
Cyclone Mickey (April 2021) :
The purfect Cat-3 Purricane!
Beehive Mouse (April 2021) :
Two-Faced (April 2021) :
Hand-Washing (April 2021) :
In terms of "real life" scale, the above male figure is shown as normal size (with all the skin detail that one might expect with such, right down to finger-prints. More remarkable is the detail that has still been retained in the female figure which is about 23 times larger than the male... She would be 140 feet tall in real life!
This was an intense "100% CPU usage" which timed out after 1 day, 1 hr, 1 min (due to a deliberate Max-Time User setting of 90,000 secs), by which stage the Iray rendering was still only 77.91% converged! To get to the normal target of 95% convergence would have taken another 8 hours or so, but would probably have made little difference to the final result, at least to the naked eye. (Bear in mind that the above is a low-rez version... dumbed-down from an original 5,000 x 5,000-pixel PSD file of 146Mb.
It was tempting to tweak a little and re-render, but it's not possible to do any OTHER meaningful work on the computer when it's doing such a processor-bound task, so the temptation was resisted!
Indeed, there will be a new-generation computer with a "grunty" RTX GPU card in our not-too-distant future!
Dragon Fence (April 2021) :
...
Platinum Blonde (15 April 2021) :
Iwo Jima Sunset (April 2021) :
Autumnal Fall (May 2021) :
Jigsaw-Grande Maison
(May 2021) :
And yes, the jigsaw actually WORKS! Each individual piece can me moved/rearranged/manipulated in "real life" !
Have Whip Will Travel
(May 2021) :
On Your Knees! (May 2021) :
We take our PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) Very Seriously! (May 2021) :
(This render exceeded its time limit after 25hrs, and was still only 26% complete!)
Free-Fall (May 2021) :
Glass Cylinders (May 2021) :
The result of a mere 6 minute 29 seconds ray-traced render!
The Die is Cast (May 2021) :
Modelled totally from basic 3D Primitive objects, using a "Constructive Solid Geometry" Editor plugin within DAZ 3D Studio, allowing Primitives to be added (akin to "real-life" welding) to and subtracted from each other!
The model consists of roughly 11x Cylinders (to make the holes into which the dots fit), 22x Spheres and 11x Cubes (for the 11 visible dots), 2x Cubes and 1x Cylinder (for the green cube)...
The ray-traced render itself took just under 2hrs.
(It might have been easier to create the dots using single cylinders, which would likely have reduced the rendering time dramatically.)
"666" - The Devil Made Me Do It!
(May 2021) :
This was a total rework of the previous Jaded Die. Instead of using many spheres-within-spheres to create the dots, all spheres were dispensed with, the new dots being created with exactly the same cylinders as were used to create the recesses into which the dots fit! This decreased the complexity considerably, reducing the render-time to a mere 14 minutes!
Jade and Gold Ring - Square
(May 2021) :
Made entirely from basic 3D Primitive objects (spheres, cubes and cylinders).
The ray-traced render itself took 12 minutes.
Jade and Gold Rings - Diamond
(May 2021) :
Again, created using 3D Primitives only.
Render-time: 1hr 30 minutes.
Do You See Anything?
(May 2021) :
There's Something DOWN There.
A 6hr 10min ray-traced render.
Furry Lady (May 2021) :
Furry Lady was the result of a 3D ray-traced render, which was still only 80% completed (converged) after 25hrs!
Beauty & the Beast (May 2021) :
- A 6hr 45m render.
Caped Pyromaniac (May 2021) :
Another 25hr render, which timed out at the 79%-converged level. (DARK ray-traced renders typically take much longer than lighter ones.)
Who NEEDS New Clothes? (June 2021) :
Lifeguard Duty (June 2021) :
The above was just a fun "doodle" ... exploring a few lighting possib-ilities, etc. without any specific goal in mind.
