NOTE:
These 3D-Modelling pages are in reverse-chrono- logical order, so our most recent render offerings appear at the top of the "Products & Services" menu.
The images on this page date back to 2015 or ealier.
FURTHER NOTE:
Support for the CMS (Content Management System) which has been used to create these web pages for the past decade is being discontinued at the end of 2022. The pages will still be visible until the end of 2023, but it won't be possible to add any new content after December 2022.
:-(
AND ANOTHER NOTE:
When browsing photos / graphics on this web site (or others) the astute among you might notice that some are signed ETease, ETease Cameo , ETease' Cameo or GMcI. Indeed, on different web sites the same images might appear with any or all of the above "signatures". All are property and Copyright © of Geoff McIntosh / Geoffrey McIntosh / Geoffrey George McIntosh / OnlineDTP.com .
ETease Cameo is a direct reference to an online Art Gallery named ETease' Cameo Photography & Graphic Arts, which is housed in the 3D / VR world / game, "Second Life". This presence was first established circa 2007 / 2008. As a rule, the originals of the GMcI / ETease'-signed images tend to be of a higher resolution than the ETease images.
Inline Unsigned images displayed on this site should also be attributed to (and are Copyright © of Geoff McIntosh.
Copies of the same images can also be found on other web sites including Flickr and Deviant Art.
Permission will typically be granted to use these images, but credit should be attributed to Geoff McIntosh, who can be contacted at the following e-Mail address: GGMac@BinaryResearch.net .
By "3D Modelling" we really mean "3D Modelling and Rendering".
3D Rendering is the 3D computer graphics process of automatically converting 3D wire frame models into 2D images with 3D photorealistic effects or non-photorealistic rendering on a computer.
Just as with other genres, there are numerous 3D computer graphics software products on the market and one can't become proficient with all of them.
As of 2016, our tools of choice are:
Blender, which is both of professional quality and free, in that it is open-source. Its used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, interactive 3D applications and video games. Blender's features include 3D modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, raster graphics editing, rigging and skinning, fluid and smoke simulation, particle simulation, soft body simulation, sculpting, animating, match-moving, camera tracking, rendering, video editing and compositing. Alongside the modeling features it also has an integrated game engine.
Blender isn't the easiest of 3D tools to use. It has a steep learning curve, but it also has its advantages, with numerous import/export plug-ins making it compatible with many other products, including the 3D virtual world of Second Life.
Standard import / export file formats include:
Collada (.dae), Motion Capture (.bvh), Stanford (.ply),
Stl (.stl), 3D Studio (.3ds), Autodesk FBX (.fbx),
Wavefront (.obj), X3d Extensible 3D (x3d)
Epic Games' Unreal Engine, a total package that allows Game-Developers to create complex, hi-res shoot-'em-ups, car-racing games, etc. for all platforms, including tablets and mobiles. Whilst it caters to extremely realistic animations of people, "beasts" and machines, it also allows for the creation of beautiful scenes, landscapes, buildings, etc, and it can import / export models (complex static meshes) to / from Blender, 3D Studio Max, Maya and other apps.
On request, we also produce creative merges of 2D images with 3D objects. To see examples of our 2D/3D merges, please click here.
DAZ 3D Studio, which is similar to Unreal Engine in many ways, but (in our humble opinion) much more suitable in terms of creating "human" forms.

We will make a point of uploading a selection of 3D wireframe and rendered models early in 2015. For now, please just settle for
A Cup of Coffee (created with Blender) :
A French Gite / Holiday Cottage(Unreal Engine) :
... Initial stages of recreation of an existing building, with the interior and landscaping still to be created.
The above is missing the stairs, created separately...
... converted to static mesh, and imported :
(Each chair is an individual static mesh object.)
An Apartment interior (Unreal Engine) :
Alchemist's Workshop (online 3D/VR) :

A Dog Phaser? (Unreal Engine) :
Tubular Chairs (Unreal Engine) :
A House in France:
Old Photo of the house :
Quick sketch of same, eliminating background :
3D render of the house that you can walk around, created in Second Life (It was necessary to create a slightly more narrow version due to "land area" constraints.) :
Same property (Driveway) :
Same property (Incomplete Gazebo) :
Rural Art Gallery (Second Life) :
Second Life is really just a Game, but it DOES allow for some creative modelling and rendering walk-through opportunities:
Shadow Text (Unreal Engine... Just for fun.) :
Incomplete Mountainous Landscape (Unreal Engine) :
A Deck Scene (Unreal Engine) :
